Report of the State Geologist of the South African Republic (1897)

This landmark 1897 government report represents one of the earliest formal geological surveys undertaken in the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek. Dr. Gustav F. Molengraaff, appointed State Geologist of the Transvaal Republic, documented the physical and structural characteristics of the region during a formative period of scientific mapping and administrative development.

The report includes early geological observations relating to the eastern Transvaal, including references to the Duivels Kantoor (Kaapsehoop) area and associated 19th-century mining activity.
